The Sky is Red: A Nation in Transition

News cycles have been dominated by the Trump Tower Cybertruck explosion and the New Orleans vehicle attack. These events unfold amid rising societal tensions, economic instability, and a growing disconnect between the government, media, and the people they claim to serve. Whenever events like this happen, fingers point in every direction, military, radicalization, personal or political motivations, or systemic failures. Yet, one thing remains clear, these are not acts of aggression by foreign powers. These are not actions orchestrated by shadowy figures beyond our borders. These events, as far as we know, were born from within. Whether we acknowledge it or not, we are witnessing the unraveling of this nation. The political, social, and economic status quo has reached the point of diminishing returns for all involved. The system is fraying, and the signs are everywhere, clear for those willing to see them.

The aftermath of events like the Cybertruck explosion and the New Orleans incident is heavily influenced by emotional media coverage. Headlines are crafted to draw attention and blur the line between objective reporting and sensationalism. These incidents are happening at a time when the public is already on edge. Drones, orbs, rising living costs, and political polarization have created an environment of uncertainty. Large numbers of people are fearful for their safety, both physically and economically. Economic instability isn’t just about numbers on a screen, it’s about real families struggling to put food on the table, pay rent or mortgage, and maintain a sense of dignity. This constant state of uncertainty breeds desperation, anger, and, in some cases, violence.  Coupled with a general lack of explanations from leadership adds fuel to the collective anxiety.

Political parties, the federal government, and the mainstream media have all expressed confusion and outrage over the public’s reaction to unrelated events such as the recent election and the seeming approval of the recent murder of the United Healthcare CEO. These reactions are merely symptoms of the disconnect between institutional leadership and the concerns of everyday people. The government sees chaos, the people see the logical results of a system that failed them.

This tension creates an unstable dynamic where individuals begin to feel the need to take security, both physical and financial, into their own hands. As trust in traditional institutions erodes, people are turning to decentralized solutions, independent preparedness plans, self-employment, and self-reliance.

The government’s struggles to explain aircraft in the sky, address rising inflation, and manage its core responsibilities continue to fuel skepticism among citizens that’s been growing since COVID. Every misstep and failure to provide transparency (aka just tell the truth) widens the trust gap.

Public perception of justice and accountability is evolving. First the mainstream media and the world of politics was baffled by the election outcome. Then came the mixed reactions to the killing of the United Healthcare CEO which spotlighted the public’s frustration with corporate and governmental power structures. Trust in government, media, and corporations has reached historic lows. People feel unheard, unseen, and unprotected. When the social contract begins to break down, chaos fills the void and people feel increasingly inclined to take matters into their own hands, be it financial self-sufficiency, personal safety measures, or active resistance against real and perceived injustice.

In this climate of fear, distrust, and volatility, practical preparedness becomes not just an option but a necessity. In Matthew 16:2-3, Jesus spoke these words, “When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. And in the morning, it will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?”

These words resonate in our current time. We have become experts at predicting market trends, analyzing political polls, and forecasting weather patterns, yet, many people fail to recognize the larger signs unfolding before our very eyes. The cracks in our social and economic foundations are not random occurrences, they are symptoms of a nation in transition. Like a pregnant woman nearing the end of a pregnancy, there are signs that things are about to go down. The pain intensifies, water breaks, and the delivery, or death happens whether we are ready or not. Our society is showing all the signs of an impending transformation whether that transformation leads to renewal or collapse depends not just on those in power, but on how we as individuals change and prepare ourselves and our families.

What we all need to be doing now is stepping away from the noise and putting our focus on what we can control, our preparedness, our understanding of the world around us, and our ability to separate fact from fear-driven fiction. We cannot function effectively with clarity and purpose if we are constantly stressed by every sensational headline. In a world where uncertainty feels like the only constant, and watching the government crash out in slow motion, preparation isn’t paranoia, I call it prudence.

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. As social unrest intensifies, as public trust in institutions erodes, and as individuals take matters into their own hands, the government will respond. History teaches us that those responses often come in the form of increased control, heavier surveillance, and restrictions on personal freedoms, all under the guise of public safety.

These solutions are never designed to make life easier or freer for everyday people. Instead, they serve to stabilize the power structures that are already in place. Policies enacted in times of crisis often never go away after the crisis has passed because abuses of power never willingly give it up. This creates a permanent shift in the relationship between the government and the people. The question we must ask ourselves is, are we prepared for this equal and opposite reaction?

No need to get stressed out or feel overwhelmed by what’s going on. It is not your problem to try and save the system. You’re already at the bottom, just get out the way, let it fall, and climb up out the rubble. Your mission is to focus on what you can control. Here are some actionable steps we all can take. First, bath your mind in truth and reality. Ignore all the reactionary narratives out there. Train yourself in practical skills and knowledge that will yield you tangible benefits like gardening, home repair, and basic survival skills. The more you know, the less you need. Then start to build a supply of essentials like water, food, first aid supplies, and tools.  Create a family emergency plan with a clear communication plan. We all know how aggravating it is when you need somebody and can’t reach them. In terms of finances, save what you can. Buy only what you need, and invest in tangible assets like land, essential supplies, and resources that will hold their value. As you do this, start to develop a plan to start your own business. We all have skills and knowledge that others could use and those skills and knowledge are how we’ll put food on your table when your job locks their doors. Develop good working relationships with like-minded people you can trust and outside of them, keep your mouth shut about what you’re doing.

The unraveling of a nation is not something that happens overnight. It’s a process, not some post apocalyptic wet dream where a massive EMP detonates and triggers day one of the purge. Although an EMP is a possible threat, I think this is going to be a slow burn full of signs, warnings, and inflection points. We are living through one of those moments now. Don’t be a passive observer of history. Discern the signs, connect the dots, and act accordingly. The systems we have relied on are under immense strain, and we cannot afford to assume that someone else will fix them on our behalf. The sky is red, and the signs are clear. Whether we choose to prepare or look away will determine not only our fate but the fate of those we love. Now is the time to take responsibility, make thoughtful preparations, and remain vigilant. The world is changing. The question is, are you ready?….If not, reach out, and I’ll get you started.
